Muslims in Ibanda District have been urged to maintain the spirit of holiness, discipline, and good deeds cultivated during the holy month of Ramadan, even after its conclusion.
The call was made on Friday as Muslims across the district joined the rest of the world in celebrating Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of 40 days of fasting, prayer, and reflection.
Hundreds of faithful gathered at Rugarama, the district’s main mosque, for special Eid prayers.
Speaking during the prayers, the Ibanda District Kadhi, Yusef Kalule Juma, who presided over the congregation, emphasized the importance of sustaining the values practiced during Ramadan.
“This is a special day for all Muslims, but it should not mark the end of the good habits we have built,” Sheikh Kalule said.
“We must continue living holy lives, doing what is right, and maintaining the discipline we observed during Ramadan.”
He cautioned believers against reverting to negative behaviors, urging them instead to remain committed to acts of kindness, charity, and devotion to Allah.
“Let us not turn the good into bad after this period. The lessons of Ramadan should guide us throughout our daily lives,” he added.
Sheikh Kalule also used the occasion to commend the government for its continued support towards the Muslim community, particularly in areas of development and social welfare.
“We appreciate the government for standing with Muslims and supporting our development initiatives. This cooperation is important for the progress of our communities,” he noted.
The Eid celebrations were marked by prayers, charity, and social gatherings, with Muslims sharing meals and extending goodwill to one another, in line with the values of unity and compassion emphasized during Ramadan.
